No Fear

Gerald Miller is living on faith. It is the same faith that has kept his love of music flowing for the past 35 years. The Singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer began honing his craft in church choirs at the age of nine. 'After that, it was just a continuous progression,' recalls Miller. He performed in numerous talent shows, coffeehouses and any other places where he could display his God-given gifts. Yet, he wanted more for himself. He remembered that it was the creativity aspect of the music that really moved him in the first place. 'It really opened up my spirit the way a flower does, it allows you to be free and alive, and is what I enjoyed the most.' states Miller.

So he put all his efforts into creating a personal demo, which fortunately led him to front two top R&B Bands: Love Cats and Mixed Heritage. He did gigs all over and learned a lot about the inner workings of the music business. With that knowledge and a bundle of dreams under his arm, Miller decided to strike out on his own, and eventually started his own record label; MAHKINGDOM Records. It was a part of fortifying myself as an entrepreneur. It was self-inspiring because it was my vision and I was taking control of my own dreams to make things happen,' concedes Miller.

Things definitely didn't happen overnight. Hard work, determination, and discipline aided in mentally preparing him for this venture. He would spend hours thinking and visualizing the steps he would take to achieve these goals. He read self-help books, and became financially sound before mobilizing himself through the process of completion. Even the lifestyle he led needed alterations in order to be more conducive to his plans. This transition also allowed another dream to come into fruition.

'I always wanted to make a record of my own and I didn't want to wait around to anybody to discover me,' confesses Miller. With all the energy and perseverance he could muster up, his love of music finally gave birth to the debut album Personal Passions. Elaborating on his mantra of pursuing dreams, the album is a mixture of smooth improve-jazz with a kick of reality thrown in. 'It's about allowing your Spirit to soar, pursing your passion, and reaching the levels that god wants you to reach,' agrees Miller.

He realizes that this album wasn't just an attempt to be number one on the charts, but a true labor of love that originated from his journey through life. He wants all of us to realize the importance of pursuing our destiny and not letting anything get in the way of that. Miller acknowledges that if everyone did what they really wanted to do in Iife, people would be much happier.
